Hi! My name is Ana Gauthier and I am a Registered Nurse that specializes in maternal-child health. I have been taking care of mothers and children for over 20 years. In more recent years, I have been teaching an area of child-rearing that I have practiced pretty easily throughout my life and that is potty-training toddlers. One of the great things about my content is that I do it all for free. It's my hobby and a channel for me to escape. It's purely educational. It allows me to continue giving back to parents, which is enough reason to keep pushing forward, so welcome.
Here you will find a free education downloadable PowerPoint that I have shared with many families throughout the years. It's the best way to start the potty-training journey with your child because it builds the skill from the very foundation. Today I want to share it with you. There is so much to learn about this great milestone and together we will make your journey a great one. Just like with many experiences in life, everyone will have a different story. I will share ideas and strategies that have historically worked and practices that have worked for others, but at the end of the day you will have to figure out what works best for your child. Some ideas and recommendations you might have to tweak. As a matter fact, I encourage you to do so and then share it with me and fellow parents on my social panels. We can all continue to learn from each other. After all, it takes a village.
Speaking of a village, my teachings come from practices and years of research, but most importantly, they come with a cultural Hispanic spin from
my own personal experience. I, in fact, grew up in a village in Puerto Rico, full of parents, grandparents, great grandparents, many aunts and uncles, and more cousins than you can imagine. I started learning about potty-training as a child. The way I grew up was that children needed to learn the fundamentals of surviving and being accepted in society early. What the neighbors thought was important to my family back then and from the moment a baby can sit up and interact with others, it was time to teach. My grandmother had many sayings that I hold dear to my heart and one of them was, "A los niños se les enseña temprano." That meant, children need to be taught early. We even learned how to drive vehicles as children, and we drove pretty well I might add. I like to tell parents that if they start early they can always take their time, and finish early as a bonus. Teaching early and gradually equals early mastery with minimal hurdles. This style of teaching can fit into any life style and any age group, which is quite fitting here in America where parents live such busy lives.
I must also be clear, I am a nurse, mother of five children, wife, friend, patient advocate, educator and more, but I am not a doctor. I can give good intentioned and sound advice, but I can't diagnose or treat your child. If you think your child needs medical advice then you should go seek one.
I plan on taking my teachings for a long journey and I look forward to giving parents more with EL Potty. My vision is to one day make EL Potty the one stop shop for all your potty-training needs.
Thank you for trusting in my work.
Sincerely,
Ana Gauthier RN, BSN, RNC-OB
